CBA's commitment to sustainability and the environment makes it a leader in shaping this new millennium, with a series of certifications, seals, evaluations, and actions focused on a low-impact industry that gives back significantly to society.

In addition to being self-sufficient in bauxite ore with its own deposits in the country, CBA is responsible for the entire production chain—from extraction to transformation—which ensures sustainable control of the entire process. That's why CBA is the first in the aluminum sector in the Americas to obtain international certification from the ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) in both Performance and Chain of Custody standards simultaneously for three mining sites, an integrated plant, and a corporate office.

When it comes to aluminum production, CBA is also a benchmark. Its production process ensures the use of 100% renewable and traceable electric energy, along with low carbon emissions. CBA is the first primary aluminum company in the world to have targets established and approved by Science Based Targets and to obtain an 'A' rating from CDP in climate change. These initiatives led to the creation of the Alennium seal, which connects our work to that of our partners who understand the role and responsibility we play in society.

All initiatives aimed at enhancing sustainability in aluminum production align with the goals of guaranteeing, by 2030, the supply of low-carbon aluminum with sustainable solutions through 10 ESG levers: climate change management, renewable energy, aluminum circularity, natural resources, dam management, social legacy, people development, sustainable value chain, ESG ownership and ethics and transparency, in addition to a transversal lever across all ESG communication business.
